1. Acceptance
By using Type Scout, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you use Type Scout for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What Type Scout provides
Type Scout provides typography research, comparison, project organization, export, saved website-audit records, shareable audit and direction reports, and public website-audit tools. Features may change, be limited, or be discontinued. Free access may be supported by advertising, and paid features may be introduced with clear notice before purchase.
3. Responsible use
You may not misuse Type Scout, interfere with its operation, evade limits, probe private networks, audit websites you are not permitted to assess, introduce malicious content, scrape the service at unreasonable scale, infringe intellectual-property rights, or use results to facilitate unlawful activity.
Website audits are limited to public HTTP(S) pages. You are responsible for ensuring your audit request and use of the result are lawful and consistent with the audited site’s terms.
4. Your projects and content
You retain rights in briefs, project names, copy, and other material you submit. You grant Type Scout a limited permission to process that material only to provide, secure, and improve the requested service. A direction report you publish is accessible to anyone who receives its link until you revoke it, so remove confidential material before publishing. Do not submit confidential or regulated information unless the production service expressly supports it.
5. Fonts, sources, and licenses
Document and website audit findings are automated heuristics and may not recover every inherited style, text color, semantic role, scanned element, substituted font, or licensed source. Review the original rendered work before relying on a score or recommendation.
Font availability and license labels are informational. Font licenses can change, differ by version or source, and impose obligations Type Scout cannot determine for your project. You are solely responsible for obtaining files from authorized sources and confirming embedding, redistribution, modification, trademark, and commercial-use rights before release.
A Type Scout recommendation is design guidance—not a license grant, legal opinion, or guarantee that a font is suitable for every language, platform, or accessibility requirement.
6. Accounts and security
You are responsible for accurate account information, a strong password, activity under your account, and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access. Type Scout may suspend access to protect users, comply with law, or respond to material violations.
7. Availability, warranties, and liability
To the extent permitted by law, Type Scout is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties that results will be complete, uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. Automated audits can miss content, styles, states, or licensing facts.
To the extent permitted by law, Type Scout is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of data, lost profits, font-license disputes, or decisions made from automated results. Rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.
Governing terms
These Terms are governed by the law applicable where the Type Scout operator is established, reflected at launch as the operator's place of establishment, without overriding mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
8. Changes and contact
Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date and, when appropriate, an additional notice. Questions about these Terms: Support email will be published before launch.
This template must be reviewed by qualified counsel and completed with the operator’s legal identity and jurisdiction before public launch.
